A Texas mother escaped her abusive ex and fled to Grenada, an island in the southern Caribbean that used to be a British colony.
Over the last year and a half Rae and her now 9 year-old son Johnny* have made a wonderful home there. Their lives have been full of fun and adventure and new friends as seen in her Tiktok videos—but most of all, they are together and safe.
Unfortunately her ex hired a private investigator and was able to locate them a few months ago. He has filed a Hague Convention (international child abduction treaty) case in an attempt to be able to force Johnny back to Texas with the father.
Rae has been stalked, threatened, and terrorized by private investigators and possibly even U.S. embassy officials who are helping her ex, trying to break her will to stay in Grenada. Some have attempted to lure her into their car, but she is too smart for them. Dirty tricks.
Rae says she has a “top tier” legal team fighting for her in Grenada and the court officials seem sympathetic. However, it has become apparent recently that they are being intimidated by her ex’s representatives and U.S. officials.
The U.S. judge in the case, Judge Maya Guerra Gamble, has gagged the professionals to whom Johnny has reported abuse, including doctors and therapists. She has excluded their evidence from custody/visitation considerations. This despite the fact that her campaign motto was: “Every person appearing in my courtroom is treated with absolute fairness. Every person has their voice and their position heard.”
Guerra Gamble is known for her previous work with CPS. Not surprising. They have a long history of covering up abuse by fathers in custody cases. Maybe with some public pressure she will change her stripes…
RAE’S STORY
Rae’s story in her own words in 2 1/2 minute video:
It is imperative that those responsible for the safety of our most vulnerable people, including those seeking refuge from violence, are protected, not cast back into violence.
Rae calls herself a “Hagued Mum”. Hague mother groups are uniting behind her. There is a healthy number of mothers who have come together to raise awareness of how the Hague Convention is being used against mothers. Many are being prosecuted for abduction if they return.
Award winning investigative journalist Robert Abbott has been filming Rae and Johnny this week for an upcoming documentary on the plight of mothers fleeing abusive exes internationally to protect children—and then being criminalized for protecting. His interest in the issue began with Narkis’ case which we covered last year: Mom Who Said "Many Women End Up Dead" Has Died.
When asked by Robert in an interview what Rae wanted people to know, she said:
I want everyone to know that we are coming. The mothers are coming. To expose systems. To expose governments. To expose judges. To expose abusers.
But Rae says she is now living in fear for her and her son’s lives, afraid he could be taken any time. She cannot go back to the U.S. as she will most likely be prosecuted for child abduction. The fact that she was escaping abuse will likely be disregarded and concealed from the jury by prosecutors in order to secure a conviction.
Prosecuting mothers is a main way the OBN (old boy network) terrorizes mothers and deters other women from fleeing abuse, with the goal of keeping fathers in control in the family.
CALL TO ACTION
Rae has made a Call to Action to contact the Prime Minister in support of her staying in Grenada. Let’s support her!
Dickon Mitchell is a newly elected, young Prime Minister, so maybe he will be concerned about children being given to domestic violence perpetrators.
Please take a moment to email, call and/or pm him on Facebook.

Dear Prime Minister Mitchell,
I am with Women’s Coalition International and we are asking that you allow Rae and her son to stay on Grenada where they are safe and happy. They are victims of the systemic failure of family courts to protect women and children. I am a mother who was not able to protect my children and I support Rae being able to.
Thank you

One advocate says: “Theoretically and according to law Anna should not even be in jail. Silencing the victims has been made law. But repeat pedophiles walk out of that court with suspended sentences because ‘they will suffer in jail’.

I am so saddened by these officials that have a responsibility and probably took oaths to do what is right and are still wronging these women and allowing these men to take their rights away from them and financially abuse them and terrorize them and even defamate them to get others to treat them badly we need to teach our men that this is not how you date we also need to teach our daughters to not participate and encourage men who act like this
Being a baby mama or a baby daddy does not make you cute or popular and that is such the epidemic that we are dealing with right now
Family court judges are forcing mothers to flee in order to protect their children. They are granting custody to fathers that request it. Family court judges are giving child custody to abusive fathers. Women are discriminated upon in family court. Mothers and their children are denied their rights in family court. Family court judges are denying women the right to due process and the right to equal protection. They are not protecting women and children. Family court judges punish mothers and their children when they stay. Family court judges punish mothers and their children when they leave. Women and their children are treated inhumanely in family court. Family court judges abuse their power and must lose it. Mothers and their children are forced to needlessly suffer the consequences. Mothers and their children are abused by family court judges and are dying. There is no justice in family court. We need a new system that protects mothers and their children. Mothers should not be forced to escape family court injustice in order to protect their children.
