Mom Tricked into Using Private Mediator Loses Son
Beware Mothers: Never Use Private Mediators or Judges
Allexis was tricked into using a private mediator. Her ex is wealthy and could afford to pay for one. She had no idea how much power they have and that would make it even easier for her son to be taken away and given to his father.
Allexis divorced her ex in New Jersey after reporting many incidents of domestic violence, coercive control, and infidelity. She was given sole custody of their young son, RJ.
As soon as he got his first NBA check, I became his physical and mental punching bag.
Allexis’ ex is a professional basketball player with the NBA who signed on with the Sacramento Kings in 2019. He threatened to take custody of RJ if she did not move to California, so she moved to Los Angeles.
He punched the wall by my head…He threw a drink in my face in front of my family and friends…He hit my baby…
LAMB TO THE SLAUGHTER
Los Angeles is where the deceit and trickery begin, where Allexis enters the world where she will be led, like a lamb to the slaughter, to the inevitable conclusion of the loss of custody.
Allexis’ lawyer led her to believe that using a private mediator would benefit her, gushing about what a wonderful guy the mediator was and how he would treat her fairly—a bald-faced lie. She was doing the Old Boy Network [OBN] bidding, selling the mother out, helping enable the slaughter, like so many mothers’ attorneys do.
So Allexis stipulated to using Thomas Trent Lewis. He had been supervising judge of L.A. Family Court, but he apparently switched to the more lucrative profession of mediating for rich clients.
Alternative resolutions companies offer many types of “mediation”, including private mediators, arbitrators, referees, judges pro tem, parenting coordinators, special masters, et. al. Some of these roles have more binding power than others, but most need a judge for oversight and to sign off on orders. It is unclear exactly which title Lewis took on, but he apparently worked Allexis’ case under Judge Wendy Wilcox.
These private mediators call themselves “neutrals”, but, as Allexis discovered, Lewis was anything but neutral. She says he behaved, from the moment he came on the case, as if he were representing her ex, “giving him everything he wanted”.
Lewis praised her ex for being a professional basketball player and demeaned Allexis for being a stay-at-home mother homeschooling her child due to his ADHD. Same ole, same ole Old Boy BS: extol the father; degrade the mother. And it seems Judge Wilcox just went along with whatever Lewis decided.
HIT IN THE HEAD
In February, RJ came back from a visit with his father with a bloody, swollen bump on his forehead and marks on his legs. He told Allexis his father had hit him.
Allexis called CPS and told them about this recent incident and past abuse, including the DV, emotional abuse and the father’s bullying and making fun of RJ due to his ADHD. She described the situation as the father getting frustrated with his son and taking it out on him physically and emotionally.
He snaps. He’s snapped on me; I’ve seen him snap on his son. And for him to drop his child off [with me] with his head bleeding, with a knot…there’s nothing worse…
CPS confirmed abuse, referred it to the police, and it was reported he was charged with child abuse. The NBA benching her ex for the rest of the season after the abuse was reported. The NBA benched him for the rest of the season citing only “personal reasons”.
Allexis was encouraged to get a Temporary Restraining order in Sacramento, where the abuse occurred, but a judge there said jurisdiction was in Los Angeles.
THE COVER UP
Back in L.A. before Lewis, there was a five hour trial in which all evidence of abuse was presented, including from CPS, the police, the D.A., charge. But Lewis completely disregarded the abundant evidence and denied Allexis the Restraining Order she so desperately needed to protect Little RJ.
Allexis was horrified that Lewis had disregarded this latest, serious incident and all the past DV and child abuse. She moved into a shelter in Sacramento and entered the California Safe at Home program for DV victims.
Allexis was told she could go to Atlanta since she had sole custody. She just needed to make a “good cause” report to the D.A. to let them know where she was. She returned to Atlanta where she has family and friends for support and was granted a Temporary Restraining Order there.
THE SLAUGHTER
In April, before the permanent RO hearing in Atlanta, her ex filed an emergency ex parte for custody in L.A. At the ex parte, Lewis granted her ex sole legal and physical custody with restricted visitation for Allexis.
RJ was taken from Allexis and she has not seen him since. She doesn’t even know where he’s living or what state he is in.
Keeping children completely away from the mother serves to terrorize and traumatize them into silence about abuse and compliance with living with the father. It’s part of the process of breaking a child’s will to live with his/her mother and getting him/her under the father’s control. See: “How Judges Weaponize Mind Control”
In June, Allexis finally figured out that if she represented herself, she could be rid of Lewis. So Allexis is now in pro per, but that has not helped so far. Judge Wilcox continues to be complicit in empowering the father to keep RJ away from his mother.
FIGHTING HARD
Allexis is fighting hard to get RJ home and safe.
She has challenged the validity of the ex parte order giving her ex sole custody. She has challenged jurisdiction in L.A. She has filed a petition for writ of habeus corpus to have RJ produced. She has requested the D.A. file for a protective warrant to locate him. She has alerted a missing children’s organization to help find him.
And she has gone ex parte many times in L.A. to get orders to enforce her rightful visitation by Lewis’ order, the last time being just days ago. But Judge Wilcox has denied every motion, continuing in her complicity in the cover up of abuse and empowering of the father.
Allexis says the most important thing for the public to know is that private mediators and judges are terrible and that Family Court does not act in the best interests of children.
MORAL OF THE STORY
The moral of this story is that private mediators make it even easier than it already is to take children from mothers and give them to unfit, underserving and abusive fathers.
As Allexis’ case painfully demonstrates, the enabling of the father to take and abuse children happens whether there is a private mediator facilitating it or not. That’s because it is the system that is the problem, not individual actors. An entirely new system is necessary to stop the taking and endangering of our children.
NOTE: Some readers may be tempted to believe Allexis lost custody because her ex is wealthy and famous and can bribe or otherwise influence the mediator and judge. But even when mothers are wealthy, they often lose custody. Angelina Jolie’s case is a good example. The “Money/Profit Rabbit Hole” [an upcoming column] is just one of the many Custody Crisis Rabbit Holes women get caught in.
The truth is Allexis lost custody because she is a woman in a system that entitles and empowers men, not because her ex is rich. That just makes it a bit more likely.

I am a victim and so are my kids. The corruption here leads all the way up from the police and a powerful public school administration to many powerful parents who I mistakenly trusted while we raised our kids together.
I have more than enough evidence of organized crime and cover ups. I got a few people at the top to resign as a result of my exposing them. I was a Social Worker with veterans and trained police. I had no idea that this was going on. I do now.
This happens too much. Bias has absolutely wrecked civil rights of women. Railroading, collusion, extortion via legal fees, mental evals, 3rd party forced orders to pay and undergo bias analysis to be concluded in favor of father and telling mother she is nuts and children are as well, no caps on these fees and the anonymous nature and the lack of auditing or juries keep this system running. The collusion and the abuse by proxy is completely obvious. There will be justice and lord please have mercy on their souls.
