Long overdue, it's definitely time to put a spotlight on the corruption in the family courts. Survivors of domestic violence must have their voices heard, not just for the domestic violence but for the further abuse within the system. It's hard to believe that this barbaric system has been permitted to carry out atrocities for so long, perpetuating the abuse of women and children. I can't not wait until this system is brought to justice and every corrupt judge stands trial for their crimes. Please keep me informed if you know of any class action lawsuit in Canada.

Women have no enforceable rights in family court. Mothers and their children suffer. This systemic discrimination must be addressed. The lawsuit is so needed! Thank you.

Thank you for this. After years of fighting and feeling worn out to the point that I can't even get myself to file another motion, this gives me a sense of relief, hope and renewed energy.

Ladies, these articles must be shared and shared. They need numbers.. lots of women. There are so many American women are affected negatively by these paternalistic, misogynist decisions made in family court. Sharing this will encourage women to join.

Thank You for this lawsuit, this is music to my ears. I honestly believe we can change the system if they are exposed and we as women unity as one. My son still now age 6 hasn’t received a state attorney. The birth certificate father is using my son for immigration status. The real father ….will be discovered very soon and be bought for his emotional & financial needs for my son.

We need this in Switzerland as courts here do NOT acknowledge coercive control , nor psychological/emotional/ financial abuse.

They only acknowledge physical abuse.

And even then it’s terrible as they maintain the visitation of the kids with the violent father as long as he never hit the kids and only hit the mother.

It’s sick here.

I could go on for days how judges are more vested in protecting the non custodial parents rights ;which 95% of cases is the father) as opposed to the rights of tge children.

Not one case at a time. A class action lawsuit with many complainants is one way, probably the best way.

I learned from Norman Siegel amazing civil rights attorney that it is also possible to file one excellent sample case and then set up the percentage for the next to follow. Class action takes very, very long time. Even 20 years.

Class action does take longer. That's true. But class action law suits usually set a precedent that causes changes in laws, especially language in those laws that's unclear or confusing. Both are good. It's just that I'd bet a lot of single moms don't have the means to retain a lawyer. Class action suits don't require retaining a personal lawyer.

By having a class of people similarly mistreated like you based on similar traits we all share. We have been discriminated for being a female gender, lost of us less wealthy, so financial status, domestic violence victims, a lot of us accused of mental health illness for something called being a mother. Wanting to protect your child from abuser is not a mental illness. It’s called mother’s instinct that no court should use, defy, deny, weaponize. It going against the nature, it is our Human rights and our children being violated.
