This is the exception to the rule. Mothers usually don't get custody of their children when fathers request it. The media coverage on the murder of a judge is immense. The media should give at least the same amount of coverage to the murders of mothers and children. The rule is that even abusive fathers get custody of children when they ask for it, and that's newsworthy!

"Why didn't she just leave?" No doubt this will just make judges more willing to give abusive fathers custody. No lesson for them to be learned here. Blame the woman.

I’m so glad this judge helped. I’m so sorry for the loss of his life and hope this encourages other judges to keep dangerous people where they belong. I know my judge during my final divorce hearing told my ex to stay away from me and wrote down that he was abusive. He came after me about 8 years later when I was in a hospital after having my son and in a mild coma. He threatened me and a detective heard him and was going to arrest him, but apparently that never happened. I wish today that this judge that I had was still alive. It was so long ago I believe he passed by now.

Per usual I am hopeful re the fact you more forcefully address need for FC reform by noting just better training for judges will be insufficient for those who have ignored very credible abuse evidence. Judicial discretion needs to be reduced, also, and enforceable sanctions for any who order abusive custody/visits. I'm hoping someone from your group will call me so we can discuss more ways of forcing media to cover need for sufficient FC reform. I maintain the ever-increasing cost via fact it is way too easy & costly to sue is a systemic legal issue that adds substantially to our deficit. Consider all insurance costs are higher due to fear of suit, ETC.. Note gun violence perpetrators (& lots who have very dysfunctional behaviors) were often abused as kids, which media does mention re guns but doesn't connect enough dots to others. Don't we need theme that our entire society, including all organizations including business, need to ensure whatever they do helps maximize chances for kids to become responsible adults? I'm founder/Exec. Dir. of Advisory Bd/Nat'l Coalition for Family Justice- pres. said from outset (1980s)- "Abusive custody is best-kept secret in U.S." She frequently has long tried to promote need for reducing judicial discretion. My 1st 23yr marriage/atty/Nixon appt- I GET legal shenanigans! I have 3 sons, 2 stepsons, 11 grndkds, so surely not anti male- just pro human & increasingly scared re future for all our kids that we're doing too little, too late! Google my article- "Isn't Root Cause of Everything How Kids Turn Out?" Respectfully, Susan T.Glascoff 203-981-1595 ( I'm willing to donate, too- can I via phone & cc as I don't do anything online re $? ). I do promote WCNV.
