The very first documented Custody Crisis case occurred in the mid 1970’s in the American South. Mary Lou* was a wonderful, loving mother to her only child, Alice. Her story begins when Little Alice is just 5 years-old. Mary Lou’s story will be the first in a series of historical cases profiled in the coming months, in part to pay tribute to these early, brave victims of the crisis, but also to raise awareness about the history of the issue. It is important to be able to put present cases in the context of the first cases to better understand the nature and cause of the crisis.

We do need to address the root of the problem. We have limited time and need to use it wisely. Patriarchy dominates family court. Today, women continue to lose rights. Judges and politicians seem determined to strip women of their most fundamental rights. Children continue to be treated as male property. The first recorded case of judicial mom blaming was in the mid-seventies. Here we are almost fifty years later. Most women are still in shock and disbelief when they experience the horror of family court. Women and children have no rights in family court. There is no due process or equal protection. Many women are stunned at the reality of what they are facing. Discrimination against women in family court must stop. Male entitlement must end. Family court judges must not be allowed to continue to violate the human rights of women and children. Family court judges enable abusive fathers. Family court judges abuse their power. We must focus intently on removing judicial power in family court. Addressing the root of the problem is the only way to remedy it.

Thank you, Cindy for this history. I so appreciate all your work, perseverance and dedication. This is truly an enlightening site. I have written that I hoped my resistance to lies, helped make a difference, it cost me the custody of my children, and in hind site, I would do it differently. I pray that this exposure of the Narcissistic Personality Disorder in politics will eventually make its way into reforming family court and ending the power games there. I hope that this education makes its way into the public too, so that women and men make better choices raising their children, (Child Abuse is Original Sin) and women make better choices whom to have their children with. My extended family and friends have learned from me, as I would not shut up and keep my skeletons in the closet. My children and I were emotionally and mentally traumatized, our relationships forever changed, and I will never stop being sad about that, but, somewhere in the place that records are kept, there will be an accounting of our actions and intensions and enough Love Energy to make a change for the Better. I pray for "The Most Benevolent Outcome for us all." Peace on Earth.
